Best Buy: Refurbished Lenovo 15.6" Laptop w/ i5-2410M, 6GB RAM, 640GB HD, Win 7 64bit $469.99

Best Buy: Refurbished Lenovo 15.6
This deal has expired! This deal has expired!

If you're looking for a laptop and don't mind buying refurbished, Best Buy has a pretty good deal on a 15.6" Lenovo you might be interested in. Right now, they've got a refurbished Lenovo notebook featuring Intel Core i5-2410M, 6GB RAM, 640GB HD and Win 7 64bit for $469.99. This is a pretty decent price for a laptop with these specifications and should be great for students looking for something more powerful than a netbook.

Although it's refurbished, there's no doubt the laptop comes with some pretty good features. The second generation Intel Core i5 should handle basic tasks with ease along with applications like Photoshop and Lightroom. It's not going to do much for you in terms of gaming but, for the task-oriented group, this is an affordable laptop worthy of looking into.

Best Buy offers free shipping on orders over $20.

    • no usb 3.0 and weak graphics
Except for the odd laptop (Acer 13.3 inc with GT 540M graphics), most laptops in the sub $500-$600 range are integrated (second gen i3 or i5 CPUs with Intel HD 3000 graphics) excluding AMD quad core based laptops (typically A6-3400M with HD 6520G graphics). Also, not many laptops in this price have USB3 ports either.

Seems like a good deal for 2nd gen i5. Refurb but comes with 1 yr. warranty. Futureshop currently has it on sale for $499.99 ($300 off).
I don't know what these other posters are thinking, but it seems a great deal to be. There's no way you can even come close to specs like this for the money, unless maybe you buy junk like Acer. (I'd never by anything but a Lenovo or Asus, the two best PC makers by far.) The fine print shows that it is a Lenovo V507 Ideapad. The *sale* price on a slightly newer V507 is $676, so that's a 30% reduction. It's a refurb but it comes with a 1 year warranty, the same as a brand new computer, so risk is minimal. As a bonus, it has an English-only keyboard. It's become almost impossible to avoid bilingual keypads.

I don't know what more you could want. I'd buy one for sure if I didn't just buy a new PC a few months ago.

    • Looks like a decent deal. Tempted to pull the trigger on this.
Just a bit paranoid, with this being a refurb unit and all, my main concern is if that the battery itself is new or not (I mean refurb can mean it's a demo unit right?). Anyone have experience with buying BB refurb laptops and can provide insight into this?

    • Glossy or matte screen?

Does anyone know if the AC adapters for the W,T,X series are the same as what's needed for the consumer ones (like this one)?

      Thx

    • you can call customer service center and try a pm

      http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/help/...it/hc8042.aspx
Looks very promising for a PM... phoned to FS, was put on hold for the CSR to verify that they would PM, and he said they would, so I should go ahead & order it from FS, then after about 20 minutes I should phone back to get the adjustment. So $437 after the difference... not bad! And the environmental fee (for AB) was only $1.20, which seemed odd. Maybe different for refurbs? Anyway, have placed the order, will phone in again shortly to get the PM done.

Not officially PM'd yet, but looks promising!

Thanks to the OP - this will make a nice upgrade, and I *really* like the English-only keyboard idea.

The only quad-core laptop chips Intel make are the i7 QM series, and I think the entry price for anything with one of those chips would be around $800. The 2410M is a quick CPU unless you're a really demanding user.

All of Lenovo's consumer laptops I've seen have had glossy screens, and none of them used the ThinkPad AC adapter socket.

I have bought a lot of laptops in my time, ( Lenovo, Asus, toshiba, Hp etc..) I have owned a Acer Aspire 3820TG 7360 for over a year now and it's been the best laptop i have ever owned hands down!! For Value, portability, high power and sleekness this thing is a great all round package. It's certainly not Junk!! i question how you can throw statements out there like that. Yes i loved my Lenovo and my Asus was fantastic but this Acer is one smart package and well made!!

To each their own... But Acer has a rep for a reason. I share the sentiments of the earlier poster as well. Acer is shiny, stickered up crap... Might look awesome, but its still an acer. I had two die within about 14 months of new... Not to mention the ridiculous amount of bloat ware!

You must not do any typing. Their keyboards are the worst in the entire computer industry. They are unstable and the keys tilt and sag if you don't hit them dead center. There is a reason that Acer is cheap and horrible keyboards is one. Another is build quality. They were just voted the shoddiest constructed laptops by IP professionals:

      http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/hin...essionals/5721

Do you really think that there is no reason that they are cheaper than Asus, Lenovo, Toshiba, etc for the same specs?

    • Thanks to this thread I just ordered this Ideapad V570 refurb from FutureShop for $799, and will price match with BB for a final price of $437 plus tax - free shipping. Good deal.. hope I don't get a lemon. Ordered midnight last night, item has shipped and it's just 10am. Much different experience than dealing with those stores that advertise great deals but don't actually have any in stock.
