Best Buy: Canon Speedlite 430EX II External Flash $242.99 (Reg. $377.99)

Best Buy: Canon Speedlite 430EX II External Flash
This deal has expired! This deal has expired!

If you recently picked up a Canon digital SLR this holiday season and have started to look into future lenses and accessories, Best Buy has a good deal on an external flash you might be interested in. Until January 10, you can order the Canon 420 EX II on sale for $242.99 after using the promo code extrasavings at the checkout. Normally, you're looking to pay close to $400 for the unit so getting it for sub-$250 is a really good deal. Quantities are sure to move quickly so you'll want to hurry up if you hope to score one.

Though its MSRP might be a bit inflated (closer to $320ish), this is still a good deal on an external flash. Though most will be content with the built-in flash of the camera body, a stand alone flash really does make a big difference in terms of picture quality and, of course, lighting. Again, camera accessories rarely go on sale so this would be a great time to pick it up if you're in the market for one.

The deal is live now but only until January 10. Shipping is free though online units seem to be sold out at the moment. We'd recommend calling your local Best Buy for stock availability.

    • Few threads on this already, but I thought it was only online?

Mine is shipping from the other end of the country lol

I'm just happy there was one in stock when I woke up the other day, it had been OOS for days and no stores close to Toronto have any in stock

    • Wouldn't the 430 EX II be a better deal for $20 more?

    • It's 430 EX II, I picked one up last Friday at BB for $239, lowest price ever for this flash. Higher recommend it.

    • confirming its in store too. No need for a promocode. They had a sign when i went to pick up my online "reserve instore" order. Lowest price you'll find.

    • Rumour has it that the 430EX2 and 580EX2 are going to be discontinued soon for the pricier 440EX2 and 600RT.

      Hence the price drops

Yes, they will price match if you bought it at a higher price on Boxing Day, Digital cameras only has 14 days Return/Exchange policy, I am not sure if a flash belongs to the Digital Cameras category or not, if it is then tomorrow is your last day to price match, so you better do the price match by tomorrow just for sure.

I was told by a BB staff yesterday the return policy for the flash is 14 days.

BTW, sorry for the typo in title. It should be 430 not 420. Anyone know how to fix it?

Thanks, I just called and had mine changed too. I actually bought mine from FS, but they're having the same deal, so it works out!

    • As an alternative check out the Metz AF-50 (if you can still find it) or the newer 52-AF (touchscreen - $280 @ Henry's). I got the AF-50 and it beats the Canon in all specs. Very good reviews on it and has a USB port so firmware is upgradable if/when you get a new body. It's worth the comparison - I'm happy with mine.

    • I will try that technique when my flash gets here, bouncing light off things sounds complicated but makes sense

you can also use diffusers but if you don't want to spend money on one, you can just take a piece of paper and tape it over the flash.

    • Ive used price match before on several items from BEST BUY. What erks me is the price match guarantee with Visions. They "beat" the competitors price by 5%.. but it only 5% of the difference not 5% of the actual cost of the item..

    • 5% of the difference is the industry norm. Say they had a TV that they listed at $1000 and they price matched to somebody else's $900. Are you expecting them to throw in an "additional" $45 or $50 on top of that? Not gonna happen.

    • Ordered this flash over the weekend from BB and it arrived on Monday. They put the Canon box in a padded shipping bag, which doesn't offer much protection. The box was dinged up in the corners, but no damage to the flash itself since it comes in a padded pouch/sleeve.

      So far loving this flash!
