Apple Education Store: Buy a Mac, Get a $100 Gift Card or Buy the New iPad, Get a $50 Gift Card

Apple Education Store Back To School Promos
This deal has expired! This deal has expired!

Apple has launched their Back To School promos a few months early this year, so if you are about to graduate, take advantage of their education store discounts while you are still eligible.

Now through September 21, when you purchase a Mac in the Apple Education Store, you'll get a $100 Back To School gift card with your purchase. If you win up buying the new iPad, you'll get a $50 Back To School gift card. The gift card can be redeemed towards apps, music, books and more in the App Store, iTunes store and iBookstore.

Here's how it works: to qualify, you'll need to be a college student or a faculty or staff member at any grade level. When you buy a qualifying Mac or iPad from the Apple Education Store, an Apple Retail Store, or an Apple authorized campus store. For more information, check the Apple Education store.

It is the same deal as last year, but I'm not sure if it included the iPad like this years does. And yes, except for the Mac App store everything is done through iTunes. The free iPod is better too IMO.

    • stupid deal. the free iPod was better.
+2. Apple could afford to give you a free iPad and still make money off you from all the apps you buy, assuming that you abide all copyright laws.

Does this mean that anyone working at a University in any job qualifies for this deal? I can't get Apple's site to load to find out myself, it just keeps hanging.

    • How do they ask for proof of being a student when buying online? Does it apply to university students as well? Too bad the $100 GC doesn't apply to the cost of the Mac

    • I did a quick test... just FYI.. the GC is for App/iTunes store ONLY.. If you think you can use GC at store, so sorry.

We'll add your $50 Back to School Gift Card to your order. You'll see it appear in your cart, but you will not be charged for it at checkout. You can use your gift card on the App Store, the iTunes Store, the iBookstore, or the Mac App Store.

Not anymore, click on the Education Store link, then you have the option of Buying as a Student, or Faculty Member, then they ask you to select your school from a list and that's it. They don't ask for student ID numbers or require you to provide any kind of identification anymore in the Online Store, it operates on the Honour System, anyone can take advantage of the discounts.

I believe though if you go to the Apple Store they will ask for and check your student or faculty ID.

    • They don't always ask for ID in store.

You missed the University or College Staff category online (and in store).

All of the "stores" you quoted are indeed online. I don't think they were saying you could use the gift card instore.

That said, did the $100 off a printer (including an option of buying a $99 printer) disappear? THAT IS a $100 change from last year!
(Ah. I see the $100 printer rebate ended in January 2012, after being on offer for 8 years.)

    • Damn, don't expect they offer discount on ipad, too bad I have ordered it early, but good for some one who is looking for the ipad now. And I agree this is a lot worse than the free ipod touch deal back then, and printer promotion also disappeared. Not much a difference for me though, as I had a hard time to sell the printer for $40 after paying $13 of tax after rebate, not much difference.
