Amazon.ca: Razer BlackWidow Mechanical Keyboard w/Cherry MX Blue Switches $59.99 + Free Ship

Razer BlackWidow Mechnical Gaming Keyboard $59.99
This deal has expired! This deal has expired!

Mechanical keyboards are growing in popularity these days, but typical prices of $80 and up can still be prohibitive for first time buyers. For the price sensitive, Amazon.ca has a popular mechanical keyboard on sale right now -- the Razer BlackWidow Mechanical Gaming Keyboard is $59.99 with free shipping. That's about as low a price for a mechanical keyboard as you're going to get.

The Razer BlackWidow Mechanical keyboard uses Cherry MX Blue switches which provide a lot of tactile feedback and an audible click when pressed. As this is keyboard designed for gamers, it has 5 programmable macro keys on the left. The keyboard has a rating of 4.5/5 stars with 6 reviews on Amazon.ca, and a rating of 4/5 stars with 290 reviews on Amazon.com.

Amazon's prices can jump around without notice, so don't sit on the sidelines for too long if you're looking for low cost mechanical keyboard

    • I have oine of these and used it intensively and it's fine despite all the Razer hate. Typing on blue switches is something, that, once you get used to it, you won't want to go back.

I really do dislike the shiny finish though, it looks dirty after one day's use, especially where my wirsts touches it.

Having said that I much prefer my Quickfire Pro, which costs $19 more than this

    • Razer has a lot of quality problems with their gear and they generally won't honor their warranty unless you buy it directy from Razer (i.e. from their website). If you buy from Amazon or any other vendor you have to try and return it to them and hope they'll handle it. I bought one from Best Buy and BB told me to goto Razer and Razer told me to goto BB. Even if you register your product at Razer.com after you buy it that isn't for Warranty purposes. They burned me once and I won't buy their products again.

Tbat's a huge lie. I don't even post on these forums regularly, just lurk for deals, but you just rustled my jimmies.

I bought a deathadder 3500 off some random guy on craigslist, the top layer peeled off, so I sent an email, and they sent me one within 2 weeks (2 years warranty for mice). AS LONG AS YOU HAVE A RECEIPT YOU'RE FINE!

I have the blackwidow and it's gets really dirty (the glossy black kills it), otherwise it's a pretty sick keyboard. Would I buy it again? If it was $50, then yes, otherwise I'd rather spend more on a matte keyboard that doesnt show dust/oil/grime so easily.

    • I've got the Ultimate version of this keyboard and yeah, it does get pretty dirty but it's an awesome keyboard. I don't think I can go back to a regular membrane-based one after using this.

    • I have the blackwidow ultimate. I had to file down and smooth the bottom of some of the keys because they were too sharp and would catch on some of the surrounding keys. E.g., hitting the left ALT key would catch on the space bar and depress both of them.

Also I had to remove the M1 to M5 customizable keys since I kept hitting the M1 key instead of the CTRL key. I wasn't patient enough to get use to it.

For this price range get coolermaster keyboard

For a keyboard that will last a long time invest a filco

    • At this price, the Blackwidow is an excellent keyboard. It may not stack up to the elite brands at $100-120, but it's build quality is significantly better then most dome keyboards, and the keys have great feel and throw.

    • I have this keyboard, and I can I honestly say it's changed the way I look at keyboards. I think this is a great keyboard for people want their first mechanical keyboard and are afraid of the price. The only con is that the macro keys on the left will throw off your typing for the first little while. After some adjusting you'll be typing faster than ever.

    • I have the Ultimate version of this keyboard and I love typing on it...however, just last week the 5 and 8 keys on the number pad and the right arrow key all stopped working.

I'm going through the RMA process now and I'm starting to get annoyed with them.

WHich is sad because I would have nabbed this deal for a work computer as the one I'm typing on now is on it's last legs.

I'm not sure if its the PCB or just the over all build quality that cause so many boards to die
