Is it good on domains only or do you need a hosting package too? The e-mail said you needed a hosting package. I didn't test it myself.I tested on web hosting only and it works. so i guess is working on anything.

Agree with ioXt and NICO...Namespro is great...have been using them for 2 yrs too, and no probs...and lots of account access/functionability.Unlimited use!

I have a question concerning Domain name registration. When we register the wanted domain name, is the domain registered to our name or to, say in this case, Namespro.ca?Unlike 10 years ago, these days, very few companies, even half decent ones, are still pulling this kind of tricks. And with a CIRA-certified registrar (incl. NamesPro.ca), domains are registered to your name, of course.

All of them now offer hosting, ALTHOUGH I usually recommend NOT putting your eggs in one single basket, just to be on the safe side.

Baremetal and Sibername are also highly recommended by others. I've had no personal experience with either.
I believe that they all also offer hosting, but as already suggested, it's probably better to host & reg. at different places.

When you try to take out a web hosting package with Site5, they ask you to transfer the domain to them. How would I be able to host the domain that I registered with Namespro without transferring the domain to Site5?

Most companies nowadays oversell, so they're able to offer ridiculous prices (not so much for domain registration but mostly for hosting). Anyways it's nice to see that you didn't recommend one of those hosts who do nothing but lure people by offering 200GB of space, 2TB of bandwidth, all for $0.99/mth - and they either go out of business a few months later or are too slow/always down for your site to even attract any users =)

I don't think any web hosting company requires that your domain name be registered through them. They will require that your domain points to their nameservers. You should be able to change nameservers through your domain registrars domain management interface.
Hi All,This depends if you need just domains or also hosting. If just domains, you should probably go with 1and1.com for .com - it's something like $4 or $5 with free private whois. Do _not_ expect any support, though, they've offshored their call centers and they're full of idiots. If you need hosting, they're very competitive in pricing and features/speed, but again, don't expect any (useful) support. We used them for a while for a dedicated server, and they were fine, so I have no major complaints, but one time when we did something in the control panel and it screwed up our domains, they were entirely incompetent to help.
Two questions:
1) Should I register .com with Namespro for $18.88 CDN or should I go elsewhere?
2) I see there's a lifetime $6.88 CDN charge for private whois. Should it be free with new registration that I read somewhere in the forums?
