      i used it a couple times because its close to my house. The prints are good, but takes awhile sometimes.

      I always go for matte, so i dont know how glossy comes out.

    • Got both matte and glossy finish last week and both are great quality!
      Matte usually takes 10-15 days to arrive in store, whereas glossy is usually 1day service. When I spoke to the woman at the photo dept., she explained that matte takes longer because they have to have the photos printed at a central printing facility (ie. not in-store). I guess this depends on which location you plan on ordering from.

      My personal preference is for matte (if it's not a rush), but both are GREAT quality!

    • I tried them last month and was pleased. I wanted matte but glossy were ready for in-store pickup the next day so glossy it was. You'll probably like the quality but I personally found the shots came a TAD bit darker.

      Not to be rude, but I don't think you fully comprehend what you're asking and what possible roadblocks you face.

      - you want "wallet size" enlarged to "picture frame size". What exactly is picture frame size? 4x6? 5x7? 8x10? Larger?

      - do you think it's possible to extrapolate data in a wallet size pic and enlarge to a larger size without compromising "quality"? What is quality to you? How far of an enlargement are we talking about? Do you have the originals of the "wallet size" pics around in picture, negative or data form?

      Basically, your wallet pics are typically low res ... and to enlarge low res to larger sizes will make your images look even worse. There is no "magic trick" to make poop pie taste like a mocha mudslide.

      The only real option is to:

      - find the originals of your wallet size pics and use them to produce larger print sizes for your picture frame. Basically, bypass the whole wallet pic process altogether because that's the big roadblock right there.

      - or, if your wallet size has enough resolution you may be able to enlarge to 4x6 (discounting conflicting dimensions) with acceptable quality. You'd have to get the images scanned and hope for the best.

      - there is no "interpolation" to add data from nothingness. You can't pull a rabbit out of a hat like that. That "fine tuning" or zooming into images that you see on tv or movies to identify "suspects" or "clues" is pure fantasy and movie making. You can only manipulate data that's already there ... some mediums have inherently lots of data, it's just there for someone to do something with it. Your wallet pics don't have much at all so you can't do much with it.

      Hope this helps. If you don't believe me, that's fine, no offense taken ... try a local photo store and ask the same question and see what they say.

    • in Waterdown, Matte is next day service (for 8x10's) whereas Glossy took roughly 2 and a half weeks to arrive.
      Also anything with a border was delayed.

    • it depends what you order. When I order regular photos 4 x 6, glossy is ready the next day usually. However, if I order the 8 x 10, it's the matte that will be ready for the next day.

      Just read the fine prints and it'll tell you the approximate processing time.

      You get the 50 free photos from a link they will send to your email. When I did it a month ago it took about 5 mins after I signed up until that email popped up in my inbox. It's probably still the same.

      The only stores in my town are Superstores, and it's a 15 day wait regardless of picture size or finish. Oh well. Still pretty sweet though.

      I have used this service before, and they compare favorably to any drugstore type prints.
      Have many hanging on the bedroom wall even as I type.

      I just ordered about 75.........sell them at flea markets....its all good.

      I always go with glossy. People think its more of a "photograph" with this finish...go figure.

      Oh, and RFD sucked me into ordering an A580 as well. I need a new glove compartment camera, and this one will do nicely. Keepin' me poor you guys.

    • I did an online order a month ago. I had them send to the Oakville Superstore for pickup of 180 photos and 8, 8x10 matte photos. Was ready within 8 hours. I finished uploading around 3 am and they were ready by 11!

    • How longs if the deal for? The OP mentions thursday midnite. The website says "for one week only" with not start date.

      I am a bit confused with these midnights. Will the deal be available on thursday morning? or it is valid only till wed 11:59 PM.

    • I've printed out about 60 pictures in total last time they had this 8x10 sale. The quality is very good, no complaints.

      BUT.... realize this everyone. If you are using a DSLR that takes 3:2 ratio, it is not the same size ratio as an 8x10

      So, before you complete your order, after adding your prints to the cart, click on each picture to move it up/down or lt/rt so it prints the way you want it to. Like, sometimes, the person on the left may be cut off (or vice versa). Our digital photos (3:2) are made for 4x6, and 11x14. Any other size, there is room for shifting (not their fault, just physical photo limits). Unless you want to use photoshop to re-size all photos to 8x10 size before uploading.


      My first order, I didn't do the size check/crop, and left it in the centre. But photolab printed everything from the left edge. So, all the ppl on the right side were cut off.

      After a long series of trying to reach someone (their customer service email never replies), I got thru to HQ, and they re-credited my account for more 8x10s.


      But yes, overall, quality is great. I'd order again. Although it took quite a while to get the photos.

      Matte - not shiny, best if you want to frame this later in a glass frame, fingerprints will not stay on the print

      Glossy - shiny. If you put this into a frame, it may look OVER shiny. Fingerprints will show on it. But looks great without a frame

    • i am thinking if i should do what everyone else is doing...using this type of printing photo online thing. but i a little hesitant because what if someone hacks their systems and start playing around with my pictures, especially my young son. nowadays ppl are F* in the head, they do anything to make easy buck!
