View allI thought in 2016 it was either dual-mode (1.35V to 1.5V switchable) or DDR3L at 1.35V.
It's so-dimm here
However, if they really are KVR16S11/8 like what tbonegreen said:
- These are DDR3 1.5V SO DIMM modules. They will work in first, second and third-generation Core i3/i5/i7 laptops, but not fourth (AFAIK Haswell laptops require 1.35V DDR3L modules).
- These are NOT DDR3L (1.35V). If you need DDR3L, this won't work and will probably randomly crash if it does even manage to start up.
- If you have a Mac, compatibility will depend on the generation of hardware. More often than not, compatible RAM is actually because of certain required characteristics (speed, voltage, rank). If the listed compatible version matches these specs, they will probably work: http://www.kingston.com/dataSheets/KVR16S11_8.pdf
Otherwise, if you have a Mac and need 16GB, you'll want this kit at 105 from Amazon.ca: http://www.amazon.ca/Crucial-PC3-12800- ... 008LTBJFW/
For gaming you are unlikely to see any difference at all in FPS.
My macbook pro mid 2011 has 16 GB installed and it works like a charm.
Also it doesn't freeze and shuts down due to overheat. Its the firmware that doesn't support it that causes the freeze.
I just bought it but will need to contact Microsoft to see how & if I can return it.
I found out that my Mid-2010 MacBook Pro uses a maximum of 8 GB of memory, but I need to fill up both slots with equal memory, up to a maximum of 8 GB. This was for 1 stick of 8 GB memory. I installed it but overheats & freezes and shuts down with just the 8 GB stick of memory installed. Then, I added the original 2 GB together with the 8 GB (total of 10 GB) and same problem. SO, if you are buying for a MacBook Pro before 2012, buyer beware. It will not work on your MacBook Pro.
Now, I hope they can accept returns.

http://www.amazon.ca/Corsair-Certified- ... B006ON5KZC is 1.5V but reportedly working fine, I've also seen few others 1.5V but working fine for early 11 macbook pro
However, this is merely an observation. YMMV.
