    • Yeah - still don't understand what it does better than what I already do in sharing docs via email.

    • Is One Note still good with the rest of the Office Suite?

      What is One Note?
Its garbage. Windows native sticky notes w/ Dropbox sync or Evernote w/ desktop app are way better alternatives.

    • Evernote is far better tool than OneNote. Handles everything from handwriting, sketches, photos, etc.. plus it even runs on PC, Mac, Apple, Android, BlackBerry, and WebOS.

      All free.

    • I picked up a surface from the student deal and have begun using it and one note for work! I was using notes plus for the iPad but it been really glitch lately. I am loving one note so far..especially with the surface pen. I do miss the auto advance close up mode that notes plus has but I will learn to live without it. The ability to convert handwriting to text and be able to copy it right into a word document later trumps it

      All free.
both are excellent, but fanboy comments like this do nothing to advance the dialogue.
A simple search of recent evernote vs. OneNote reviews tells the story.

    • I was seriously considering of buying this app alone for $80. Thx OP however I installed it and it keeps crashing! It tries to sync existing notes from SkyDrive which I believe is the culprit.

For Android users, Evernote is a over priced a P.O.S. when you need to access notes in the subway. The offline capabilities in OneNote Android make it superior than Evernote in this aspect. Also the note taking experience is more of a joy than the Evernote experience. It's diluted to the simplest most often use functions of note taking. The organization of notes is pretty primitive in OneNote but one you start writing a note, it's pretty good.

I really want to be able to perform awesome workflow options like WindowsKey + N to perform quick OneNote's without having to open the browser and click several times to access OneNote online. That's why I wanted to buy it.

    • Thanks OP. Posting to the front page.
Loved using it when I was in university, kept all my notes in one place. Having different tabs for subjects and stuff was sweet.

Evernote is fantastic for what it does.

Micro$oft giving away OneNote free is just a sinister move since they know Evernote has gained far more ground than their own paid product. Their only interest here is to force the competition out. As for the fanboy comment, I'll like to see your reaction when Micro$oft one day either closes OneNote or moves it back to a paid premium product. They've done it before and they'll do it again. People who don't believe this will be caught with their pants down.

    • I installed it and saw that it wanted to add 29 new startup items. I consider my computer's start up time too slow already so I uninstalled it.

    • Onenote was introduced back in 2003 before iPhone days and it hasn't changed much since its debut, but it is still a very robust enterprise collaboration and free note taking tool. It will probably take some times to catchup its latest competitors on individual features.
