Best Buy Best Buy & Future Shop: Today Only, Monster Digital Overdrive 3.0 128GB External USB 3.0 Solid State Drive $80 (Was $100) Monster Overdrive 3.0 128GB External SSD $80
get this dealRight now, both Best Buy & Future Shop are selling the Monster Digital Overdrive 3.0 128GB External USB 3.0 Solid State Drive for $79.95 (Reg. 99.95) with free shipping. That's a decent deal and one of the lowest prices we've seen for an external SSD. When considering the value of this deal, keep in mind most internal SSD's in the 128GB capacity alone, with no enclosure will run you $60-80.
The Monster Digital Overdrive features a 128GB solid state drive, enclosed by a sleek stainless steel case with an integrated USB 3.0 cable. It's both super fast and completely silent since SSD's do not have any moving parts! Other features and specs include:
- 128GB storage capacity
- 250 MB/s read speeds
- 150 MB/s write speeds
- Integrated USB 3.0 Cable with magnetic catch
- USB bus powered (doesn't require external power)
- Stainless steel enclosure
- Impact resistant to 52.9 oz (1500.0 g)
- Preformatted exFAT for Windows
- Compatible with Mac OS X , Windows, and Linux
- LED data transfer indicator
- Includes protective soft carrying pouch
- 3-year limited warranty

View allWhy would one do that? Mac mini's come with a 5400 rpm internal drive. So, if you don't want to open it up, an SSD in an enclosure with UASP will speed it up. A thunderbolt enclosure is better, but also way more expensive.
With regards to this drive, mixed reviews at amazon.com

Yeah, even their 'decent' things are worth avoiding, just so the company as a whole does not get your money. They're really a scummy brand, and their products are great 'dunce caps' for me.(Monster Beats = 21st century dunce cap you paid $250 for the privilege of wearing)

What kind of speeds are you getting with this enclosure?
If anyone is looking for a good enclosure, get this:

It uses a full size USB 3.0 connector, not the flimsy mini version. And it supports UASP.

Having an SSD inside usb3 enclosure is rather pointless

The read/write speeds might be limited by USB controller not the SSD itself.
