Amazon.ca Amazon.ca: Through April 4, Seagate Backup Plus Slim 2TB USB 3.0 Portable External Hard Drive $100 (Was $180) + Free Shipping Seagate Backup Plus 2TB USB 3.0 Portable HDD $100
get this dealFor a limited time, you can pick-up the Seagate Backup Plus Slim 2TB USB 3.0 Portable External Hard Drive for $99.99 (Reg. $179.99) as part of the Featured Sales & Savings from Across Amazon.ca!
That's not the lowest price we've seen but a decent deal nonetheless for a 2TB portable external. The Seagate Backup Plus range of external drives uses a 9.5mm, 2.5" form factor internal drive with a standard SATA connector. This is becoming increasing rear, as manufacturers move to more compact hard drive enclosures. They are soldering the controller which prevents easy extraction for DIYers looking to swap drives. Features and specs include:
- Portable Form Factor
- 2TB storage capacity
- 5400 rpm rotational speed
- USB 3.0 interface (backwards compatible with USB 2.0)
- Transfer rate up to 4.8 Gb/s
- Bus powered, no external power supply
- 1-year limited warranty
Note, for any DIYers out there who don't mind taking things apart and voiding your warranty. It's been confirmed by many customers on the internet that the Seagate Expansion Portable uses a Samsung Spinpoint M9T 2TB 5400RPM drive inside.
For more shopping choices, it's been reported that the Seagate STDR2000100 (item #913340) is currently on sale for $99.99 (Reg. $124.99), in-stores at Costco warehouses for anyone who holds a membership.
This offer is live now and expires on April 4. As always, free shipping is included for all orders over $25 using Amazon's Free Super Saver option.
Thanks to blazed16 for posting this deal to the forums.

View allGreat drive and even seems a bit faster booting up a game for some reason even though its the same speed drive

it's very easy to do. i'm going to be putting a SSD in my mac mini shortly and it looks painfully hard compared to the ps4.
i don't even see the point is putting a larger HDD in a ps4. are you really going to download that many games and need to play them simultaneously? if you're a big gamer then sure, but for the average guy i think you're better off going for quality. get a SSD, load times are significantly faster.
especially when you're playing a piece of ***** game like NHL 15 where it takes 10 goddamn minutes to go from one menu to another, having an SSD is worth it.
i got a crucial SSD (forgot which model), got the 256gb for just under $100. i'd take that any day over 2TB HDD.
I was hoping to be able to clone the drive somehow, but after looking up, it doesn't seem to be possible. To use the new backup feature, I need a third drive. There's no way around re-downloading and/or reinstalling games, which is unfortunate. :/
-First I backed up my save games onto a USB stick -2-3min total
-went to the Sony site to download the fresh boot software -5min b/c it was almost 1GB
-Then I opened up the seagate enclosure -2min because I was very careful not to break or scratch it
-slid open the PS4, unscrewed the hard drive enclosure less than a min
-swapped in the new hard drive, started the PS4 in safe mode and did a fresh install of the OS- 3min because of install time and resetting PSN
-took the 500GB drive and put it into the enclosure, reformatted the drive -5 min
Overall difficulty is a 3/10. The biggest hassle is downloading my games again but I knew this would have to be done sooner or later. GTA looks like it'll take the rest of the night to install lol.. Only at 2% in after 10min
I hope the foam is ok in there lol
I dont think there are any 2.5" drives over 750gb that are 7.5mm.
The 1.5tb seagate drive i bought back in '12 was 15mm . Luckily it still managed to fit in a patriot box(though barely, it scratched the top of the box as it slid in) Looking to replace it with one of these on my next HTPC.
Do this ... open up chat ... start complaining how they haven't shipped it yet .. and they will ask you place the order again and then they will manually change the price ... it will work ... also, because for your long wait , ask them to give you a credit , you can probably get an extra 5 to 10 $ credit depending how you talk to them..
cheers !

I remember scoring a bunch at $80. I should have bought more than 5.... I'd hit that again.
Different coloured enclosures.
It's been cheaper ($93 with a PM) but not a bad price.
