WIND Mobile Wind Mobile: Port Your Number from Mobilicity or Public Mobile and Receive One Month Free and More! Wind Mobile: Port Your Number Promotion
get this dealIf you're currently on Mobilicity or Public Mobile and want to switch over to Wind, now would be the time to do so considering this limited time promotion. Until May 11, when you port your number over from either of the aforementioned carriers over to Wind, you'll receive the following benefits:
- Free SIM card
- One month of service for free
If you already have a phone, or plan on upgrading your phone, there are two ways to go: Keep your phone and get up to $500 in service credits or upgrade your phone and get up to $500 on WINDtab and get service credits when you trade in your old one.
With the announcement of their new $39 unlimited Canada and US plan, this makes it a perfect time to switch over. Though Wind might not have the same reach as any of the larger carriers, there's a lot of value for the price and should be considered if you're situated within the Wind zones.
The promotion is live now but expires on May 11.
Thanks to djino for sharing this one with us!

View allWent to the store where I originally did my port this afternoon and they remembered me and were happy to give me a new micro SIM at no charge. I was back on my way in about 2 minutes.
Everything's working great.

The $40 plan qualifies for either a $250 WINDTAB (which is an immediate discount over the outright cost of the phone). If you decide to bring your own phone (BYOP), you get $250 in PPU/Add-ons (which is $12.50 credit on PPU/Add-ons for 20 months).
There is nothing new to the above. It has always been as such.

With the $ 40 plan you get $ 12.50 each month for up to 20 months = 250 BUT this service credit does not build up in your account. If you don't have any add-on in your bill then you will loose the $ 12.50 credit. With 39 or 40 plans there is not much anyone will need as add-ons. To me the $ 250 service credit seems like a trap.
So it's either cut the existing SIM or give me one of the "new" kind.
Not that I'm complaining, but it sounds like there may be issues with consistency.
Now if they're willing to do the cutting and don't mess it up, I'm find with that. But I think it should be up to them to fix it.
When I ported over from Mobilicity on Thursday, I was hoping to also get a Moto G on the tab. Alas, they were out of stock. No problem. I was told I can either wait for that location to get more stock or if I find one elsewhere, I can just pick it up and I'll be good to go. I was given a Sim card that, I was told, would work on my HTC panache today and then I could just snap off the top to make it work on the Moto G when I get one.
So, this afternoon, I was in the vicinity of another WIND store who happened to have the Moto G in stock. No problem getting one and setting it up on the tab, but then I asked if I'd need another SIM card they said just take your MICRO SIM out of your panache and put into the moto G.
Long story short, they gave me a standard sized SIM (instead of the convertible ones -- and they knew I was going to get a Moto G) and the store that I got the Moto G from refused to do a thing about it. They basically told me to go to the store where I got the original SIM and take it up with them.
Well, that's what I plan to do on Monday. But in the meantime, I've got this new phone that still sealed in the box that I can nothing with. At least I was able to get one. None of the dealers around me had them in stock when I ported.
I would have thought that the store I got the phone from should have been able to do something for me. I hope this isn't indicative of the kind of service I can expect from WIND. To be fair, I won't pass any judgement until I see how the other store handles the SIM issue.
We'll see what happens Monday.
How do I get this resolved? I've been on hold for 30 minutes waiting to speak to Wind customer service.

But in my case, since my wife left Mobi in December, I lost the $35/month couples plan and was back to $45/month. So switching gets me back to $37.50/month. I'm happy with that.
Back when Wind/Mobi came onto the scene, I told myself that if I can get "all you can eat" talk/data for $50-$60/month, I'd be happy. Needless to say, I've been pretty happy for a few years. Realistically, I know I don't need "unlimited". 200 minutes and 3 gig/month would be more than enough for me.
A learned a couple of things during the process.
My wife suggested I set things up on her account to take advantage of the better together savings. There was no problem but she did need to be physically there when I ported because she needs to sign for it. Didn't pay a penny at the store.
I was hoping to get a Moto G but the store was out. Wound up just using my HTC Panache. I learned I didn't have to get the phone at the same time I ported. All I really need to do is find a store with stock, and as long as my wife is there to sign for it, we can just grab one from any outlet that has them whenever we get around to it.
So far, so good.
My mom is on wind prepaid plan w/free incoming calls(@the cost of ~$6/month) and both my friends (next door neighbors) signed up for free phones on tab with wind costing $35/month so their just sticking it out until the tab is cleared and then will switch out.
Where as I bought out my Galaxy Nexus so I can move around to who ever has the best deal which had been Mobilicity @ $25/month for unlimited talk/text/data.

This is a website to see Wind's network updates. It's good to see that they're actively fill coverage holes; there's been 29 towers added since January.
Are you talking about the $25 Canada-wide calling and texting plan? That doesn't have unlimited data like Mobilicity though.
But for those of us paying more or less the same, the free month and SIM card make it worthwhile. But I suspect they'll do it again at some point.

I've even ended up using my phone as a Wi-Fi AP hotspot for their phones.
LOL
This is one of the reason's I'm very hesitant on switching to Wind.
