Mobilicity

Mobilicity: Unlimited Talk, Text and Data for $25 a Month for 1 Year (New Activations Only)

Mobilicity: Unlimited Talk, Text and Data for $25
This deal has expired! This deal has expired!

For a limited time, Mobilicity has brought back a very popular promotion you might be interested in if you're in the market for a new wireless plan. Right now, you can sign up for their unlimited talk, text and data plan for just $25 a month which is a very competitive offer when compared with other wireless providers. Though Mobilicity's coverage isn't as good as Rogers or Bell, for example, the price is definitely appealing and those who live and work within the service areas might want to consider this an option.

For $25 a month you'll get:

  • Unlimtied Data
  • Unlimtied Talk
  • Unlimtied Text
  • Caller ID, Call Waiting, Call Forwarding and 3-Way Calling

A few terms and conditions do apply, though, as the plan is only valid for one year and you must sign up for pre-authorized payments. The deal is also only available for new activations.

Looks like Mobilicity is selling to Telus anyway, probably the wrong time to jump ship.
No contracts, no activation fees, nothing to lose. What are you risking by going to mobilicity, even it is just for a month or so? Sure its a hastle if you have to port back, but who knows what Tel us will do with mobi customers if it does happen.

"I have no idea what the future of this company is going to be after June 10 but for those that wanna test out a grandfather to telus network, this could be a nice way in. This deal is for 12 months."

    • I hate how the promotions are only available to new activation only I've been with mobi for almost 1.5 years and my 50% off plan expired a while back. I am currently using the unlimited plus plan...
I might just go to wind...

It means you will have to go onto another plan once this one is over i believe.
Anyone know what they mean by province wide talk? Do i still have to be in an unlimited zone to be able to talk text?

You could call anyone in the province from any mobilicity zone. By that it pretty much means when you are connected to mobilicity, you can't be roaming on rogers and expect unlimited calling.

If you don't mind buying a new Mobilicity SIM, sign up to some place (like those free Rogers pre-paids SIMs) and cancel Mobilicity then port back over to Mobilicity with a new activation sign up.

Free sim card and free 1 month of service with $300 service credits at Wind, you could switch and depending how it works out with mobi and telus, you could switch back as a new activation.

    • I wonder one thing and please help. If I register with one of this promotion, would I be able to further keep the plan with telus and change it to a montreal number?

You'd need to ask a future teller. They might honor Mobilicity plans that have been already activated.

"Telus is essentially offering them a lifeline in buying them, which would keep the lights on and allow their clients to continue with the service as it is," said Crandall, of MacDougall, MacDougall & MacTier.

Doubt Telus will risk losing/upsetting their current 7+ million wireless/mobile customers just to keep the messily 250k mobilicity customers happy, unfortunately me being one of them.

this purchase will actually make telus bigger than bell making them the 2nd largest operator in canada.

    • Personally, if you can afford to prepay for 12 months, I'd go for the multi-month value plan, which works out to be $31.50 a month. It includes Unlimited USA calling, and 30 minutes roaming (For when your in a spotty area, or in USA), But it's a lifetime price - Not a 12 months only, then your back to paying the full price for the other plan.

Especially if Telus buys them out, and decided to grandfather / Keep them as a subsidary. Which is most likely going to happen. I'd rather be on a plan that'll stay grandfathered at a price I like, than be unlucky, and have them grandfather when the promotion runs out.

(To all you nay sayers out there - If they dont keep the same price point, All mobilicity subscribers will bring their already unlocked phones over to Wind... making Wind just that much stronger. Theres a lot of articles saying why if they do buy, they'll have to grandfather... go look them up! It'd hurt them more to not grandfather, than to grandfather.).

      Making wind stronger....

There's a reason wind Mobile hasn't sold yet...

They offer tabs, which is really just another weird for contract, so whoever buys wind will be stuck with customers on tab.

Where with mobilicity, every customer is really just month to month, so Telus can raise the prices to whatever they want or they can cancel the plans.

Even if you prepaid for 24 months, they will just offer the customer the choice to use the remaining credit at the new monthly rate, don't like it, leave.

    • Not sure why this is 5/5 stars on RFD.......

Does anyone actually get good reception and reasonable data speed? Most people I know on Mobi has ultraslow data and crappy reception. On paper these guys are great, but if you plan to actually use your phone.........all you get is..........

Wind is way better, but you can go with them anytime as Mobilicity has no contract, no tab and all their phones work with Wind. I'd try this first if I was in your place as this plan is cheaper (and better than Wind $30 plan) and most importantly the Telus buyout. It'll be interesting to know if the service/data speed improves with same monthly bill for next 12 months. If not, you have Wind, switch after a month or so.
