Amazon.com Amazon.com: Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM Standard & Medium Telephoto Lens for Canon SLR Cameras $300 Amazon.com: Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM $300
get this dealIf you picked up a new Canon digital SLR this holiday season and happen to be in the market for new lenses, Amazon.com has the popular Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM Standard & Medium Telephoto Lens for Canon SLR Cameras on sale for $300. This side of the border, you're looking to pay anywhere between $350-400 so here's an opportunity to pick one up for much cheaper.
While there's the cheaper 50mm f/1.8 available for $120, this one sports a wider aperture and much better build quality. If you're serious about getting into photography, you'll want at least a few good prime lenses and the 50mm f/1.4 fits the bill -- especially at this price.
Shipping is extra but, even with that and any import fees you may have to pay, you're still coming out ahead.

B+W are considered the top of the class, by many photographers. I use one of their multicoating filters, you can tell the difference in quality. Amazon.com seems to have better prices than any Canadian sites.

I have a feeling that Canon may refresh these both lenses in 2014.
Can somebody recommend a protective filter?
