View allI've done the 95k redemption 8-9 times and already have another 120k in points.
I'm running out of things to buy though. I already have a Wii U, PS4, XBone, Canon Rebel T3, Nexus Tablets (2) and an Electric Toothbrush all from SDM
Essentially, for every $442 + tax ($499.46 for me), I get at least $170 back. That's a return of 34%
$200 redemption days = 40%
$220 redemption days = 44%
$250 redemption days = 50% (very rare)
i hope Loblaws doesnt change the Optimum points. It' easily the best reward program I've ever seen (when used properly)
Never seen a copy was looking checked all the north york locations 0 stock. Got DK tropical freeze instead.
I've been trying to find mario kart 8 for weeks at shoppers, no luck. I did on the other hand pick up the mario luigi bundle from them.
I've tried the dupont and spadina location, and yonge and college, and a few other ones.
I'll give them a call I guess.
I will base my calculations on a standard redemption of 95,000 points for $170 in merchandise. In other terms: 558.8235294117647 points per $1.00
For $1000 in purchases made everywhere BUT SDM, the SDM M/C gives you:
5000 points = $8.95 (exactly 8.947368421052632)
This is less than 1% back.
For $1000 in purchases made at SDM, with the SDM M/C, you get:
15,000 points = $26.84 (exactly 26.8421052631579)
This is 2.68% back
You still get the 10 points per $1.00 spent at SDM by flashing your Optimum Card on top of this.
I don't believe there is any bonus I get when I use my PC MasterCard at No Frills
I suspect, if you go to Shopper's on a 20X points day, you would still get your 15 points per $1.00 for using the credit card, and the 20X would apply to the normal 10 points, giving you 200 points per $1.00 for it, or a total of 215 points per dollar for both.
Using the same example above, spending $1000 at SDM with the SDM M/C on a 20X day, you get:
215,000 points = $384.74 (exactly 384.7368421052632)
This is 38.47% back , which is excellent!
SDM comes out to be way better counting in all those 20x and bonus points and now the 3-4% of its credit card.
safeway via its airmile program is very good too.
never went to WM, target, costco and the like as counting in all these, they are not cheap at all.
as you said, money is every where to pick(like the net cash bonus from ING, sorry it is much easier to remember)
If you juggle things around, there are better deals to be had!
My back of envelope calculation come to about 3-4% off, the best discount rate I can find for a credit card, if you shop at SDM
I purchased $294.15 pretax
After discounts removed for items on sale and I had coupons for, it came down to $179.52 pretax, $197.49 after tax.
I Tossed 95,000 points on there and took it down to $27.49 out the door!
We seem to go to Shopper's every 60-75 days to do a full redemption. I don't always wait for the redemption days, as for one, its not as busy and the other reason is it doesn't always land on a convenient time for us.
I'm both fortunate and unfortunate to collect so many points. Fortunate due to all the free stuff we get. Unfortunate because I had to sacrifice all of my large bowel and part of my small to earn them. Despite the 20X events not applying to Shopper's Home Health Care, there is a little loop hole in that condition. If the Shopper's Home Health Care is inside the same 4 walls as the Shopper's Drug Mart and you checkout through the SDM cashiers and all your purchases count. I can spend $600+ on medical supplies I need, so at 20X the points I get 120,000 from the one visit. The $600+ I pay, is reimbursed by my private insurance and I actually pick up PC Points as well ( as I charge that to my PC MasterCard). I should probably look in the SDM Credit Card, as I may get more bang for my points that way.
$279 + tax out of pocket x 20 points you'd get close to 55,800 points.
Those 55,800 if you wait for a mega redemption day ($210) will be worth another $123.
So if you go through all that work and have the points already its like getting a PS4 for an insane deal, if you factor in a Senior Discount you can get an additional $50 or more if not enforced.
The system is very broken and probably already in the midst of getting revamped with the Loblaws acquisition though.
Sorry to actually answer your question bounceback is better than mega redemption, its pretty much 65,000 points will get you $170. Super redemption I think its called (the $250 one) is better than even bounceback by a bit.
06-26-2014 Campaign Adjustment 0.00 85,310 0
06-18-2014 Purchase at Store xxxx 449.99 4,490 0
Total= 89,800
I'm also unsure how to spend $160 in one shot at Shoppers but I know the next time a mega redemption or 30k points back promo's I'll go pick up a controller or two and a game or something along those lines. Maybe throw in some milk.. LoL
so the amount of points I get from PS4 on redemption days is valued up to 160$?
Now any chance you could breakdown the points from the purchase of a ps4 worth 449.99?
would it be 110k points? (used the online calculator)
could you clarify?
