This deal has expired! This deal has expired!

After a flurry of bonus point events, Shoppers Drug Mart is mixing things up with a bonus redemption weekend! Starting on Saturday, redeem your points to get extra savings. If you redeem 50,000 points, you'll get up to $100 in savings (extra $15), and if you redeem 95,000 points, you'll get up to $200 in savings (extra $30 over the regular redemption level).

Not sure what to spend your points on? Well, there's a two-day sale running on Saturday and Sunday. Here's a look at some of the prices you can expect to find in stores:

  • 30% off Ombrelle sun care products
  • Duracell Mini Charger rechargeable (4's), coppertop AA (16's), or AAA (12's) batteries - $7.99
  • Life Brand, Del Monte 100% Juice or Kool-Aid Jammers - $1.99 each
  • Tampax tampons (40's), Always maxipads (20's-48's) and pantiliners (68's-120's) - $5.99 each
  • Gillette 3x antiperspirant/deoderant - 2/$5
  • Scott 6 roll paper towels - $4.88 each
  • Kellogg's cereal - $2.49 each
  • Ruffles chips (235g) or Tostitos snacks - 2/$5

These prices (and the bonus redemption event) are in effect Saturday and Sunday only, and there are lots of other offers in this week's flyer.

    • Less and less they have $250 for 95,000 points redemption. Waiting for that to clean up mine. Not really interested to collect more after points devalued few years ago.

They have only done that redemption in December, a couple of weeks before Christmas so in all likelihood you will have to wait until then. My point collection took a dramatic decrease after the devaluation too so I am debating whether to redeem now or wait. In the past, I would have had enough points for both redemptions.

Besides the obvious every day items, anyone have any suggestions? I was thinking of the Kindle for $109 but I already have an ereader.

Get the Kindle and then sell it. At least then you're converting SDM points into (admittedly less) cash. That's what I did with my free Sony ereader after getting the Sony credit card.

Thanks. Just wanted to confirm since gift card and vouchers to me are two different things but I guess the margins are too low for both for SDM to make good $ off the redemption.

    • Last year I badly wanted to get rid of my points during the $250 redemption... bought $250 worth of shampoo and tooth paste. Still have at least half the stuff unused. So I can't even do that to get rid of my points, LOL. I've only stopped by my local 24/7 SDM when it's after 12 AM and needed some food or something small ever since they devalued the points. Only thing I can see myself doing too is buying a fixed priced item like a PS3 at 20X events because that's still better than anywhere else.

    • Looks like the cheapest model. They sell for $79US.
I've seen it in store and agree it is the cheapest model. SDM sells it for $109 which is the same price as Amazon. Note the $79 US one has advertising on it (special offers) which is why it is that price and is only offered in the US. Without the advertising, it is $109, the same price as here.

Last week as part of their Mother's Day sale, Walmart US was selling the Kindle for $79 with a $30 gift card. I nearly drove down to get it. Perhaps they will repeat the sale for Father's Day. Since the regular price was $99, I believe it was the one without ads.

    • The flyer also says they have up to 50% off select digital cameras so that may be an option for some.

SDM has carried some Beach Body workout DVD programs like P90X, Insanity and Turbo Fire so you may be able to find them.

No wonder I don' get to join the referral program. The group organizer himself quit.

Haha, have they even had a referral event this past year? SDM lost me as a customer with their bad prices, poor selection, weak rewards program and their credit card losing online access. I remember redeeming for a bunch of netbooks back in the day. Now I can't even think of a good way to blow my 130K points. I hope they have another $250 event. I'll probably stock up on overpriced shampoo and retire my optimum card.
