Received my dashcam yesterday and am wanting to use my mirror for power. Quite impressed with the unit as I didn't realize it also had a battery for motion/hit detection when the car is off. Wish it had gps but oh well and it is a bit larger than I thought.
My Mazda3 has a center console plug + the armrest plug... unfortunately the armrest plug (that I want to use) doesn't shut off with the car!
You have to unplug it after you leave the car tho. The manual says so. The battery lasted me like 5 minutes and dies
Google your car model and dash cam installation. More than likely someone has put a video on youtube showing how they installed theirs.
One minor issue I have is the 1s gap between recordings.. is there a fix for it?
I got mine today too. Updated the firmware to version 1.20.
[You can find the latest firmware here: http://us.papagoinc.com/products/gosafe-200/#support]
Regarding the mounting of the camera to the bracket: it is attached pretty securely if you apply a bit of pressure (still gentle) and then slide it into position till you hear a short snap sound. You can read the reviews on Amazon as a few people also had the impression that the camera does not attach pretty well, but they were corrected by others who wrote comments to their reviews.
Appears to be a solid unit. The only issue I have with it is that it doesn't appear to be securely mounted to the bracket.
Will be testing it out further this weekend.
Thanks OP
Now let's hope this thing works well with my rear view mirror and doesn't block the sensor on it (the mirror).
Hang in there bud.
Costco is amazing in customer services.
I just cut and paste the original message and changed few words here and there.
I am also just pointing out a possibility, not making a derogatory remark.
I don't care that you don't care whether I or whoever likes it or buys it.
My order was placed on July 1, 2015.
Current status: shipped (When checking UPS tracking, it shows that it is at first step where a label was created.)
This never happened for me with any other retailer, online or in store.
Costco is indeed above most, if not all, of them.
