ClearlyContacts.ca: Free Glasses For First-Time Customers (10,000 Pairs Available)

ClearlyContacts.ca: Free Glasses Promo
This deal has expired! This deal has expired!

ClearlyContacts.ca just announced yet another free glasses giveaway for this week. Starting now, you can get a free pair of glasses (that is, if you haven't picked up a pair yet). You'll need to pay for the shipping, handling and insurance, which totals to about $15.

To get your free glasses, select a pair from the coupon eligible list, then enter promo code FIRSTPAIRFREECA at the checkout page. The free glasses include both the frame and standard 1.5 index lenses. If you want to upgrade your lenses or get coatings, you can do so for an extra fee.

To get the full details, head over to their Facebook page, where they have answers to FAQs listed. Keep in mind that there is a limit of one free pair of glasses per household.

This offer is running from Wednesday, March 21 until 10,000 pairs have been given away. As usual, this promotion is valid for first-time customers only.

    • Looking to get my first pair since over a decade. Just wondering where I should get my prescription from, if anyone had any recommendations. I know I won't get my PD number and need to use the print off from CC and "carefully" measure it. I'm covered 85% from work but just looking for a few tips. Thanks much.

    • If you ask the optometrist for the PD number they'll give you one. If you were downtown I would recommend the clinic at the Eatons centre. I did my eye exam last september and I was able to get an appointment the same day I called in.

I measured my PD myself and have three pairs of glasses from CC that work fine. Just do the measurement a few times to be sure.

    • This deal always disappoints me because my prescription (which isn't *that* strong) is never eligible for the free lenses for some reason.

For those like me who don't qualify, I wholeheartedly recommend ZenniOptical.com. I ordered from Zenni Optical last month during their Buy-2-Get-1-Free sale, and the experience could not have been better. They have lots of frames under $10. I got three pairs of glasses with anti-reflective coating for less than $40 shipped. It took them about a week to process my order, and another week for them to arrive from their Hong Kong facility. I am VERY impressed with the quality of the materials and workmanship. Only time will tell how well they hold up, but at these prices they are practically disposable. Never again, LensCrafters, never again!

No, I can't. Next to the "FREE Standard Lenses" it says "This lens is not available in your prescription." A Cylinder value greater than 2 (either positive or negative) means no free glasses for you!

For PD only, I'd recommend this: http://www.metsuki.com/pupilmeter.php

The results were an exact match with the PD on my prescription.

You must be doing it wrong? Mine is -2.25 and I had no issues.

It must be my particular combination of prescription factors then. Maybe I have an oddball prescription? I dunno, but I verified with Clearly Contacts yesterday via chat that my prescription is NOT available in their basic (i.e., free) lens. It's too bad, because I would really prefer to buy Canadian.

Edit: In case anyone cares, my prescription is:

      OD: Sphere: +0.25 Cylinder: -2.50 Axis: 108
      OS: Sphere: -0.75 Cylinder: -1.00 Axis: 065
      PD: 67mm

Might be your sphere rating being too low or because they're different signs (combination of minor near-sighted and far-sighted)?

Edit: Looks like the combination of positive and negative sphere ratings and any astigmatism excludes one from the lower quality lens

i believe it's the positive sphere that excludes from getting the lower quality lens
i have astigmatism but my spheres are negative and i can select the lower lens

    • WTF!!!!

Ordered these on Friday and they arrive at my front door this afternoon!! Now thats awesome turnaround!!

Only problem is that the glasses did not come in the specifications I detailed in my order. Had a friend (an optometrist) check the specs of the glasses themselves and they do not match the specs i submitted to clearly contacts (he gave me the specs too). They came back all wonky and my it gives me a headache when I put them on. Guess I gotta figure out how to get an exchange on these suckers.

Just hope I dont have to pay for shipping on this exchange

I think the other guy who claims to have a problem with Clearly (why not just deal with your B&M optician friend then?) bumped the wrong thread, but since we're here, I may have a solution to astear's problem: try reducing the Cylinder spec >+2.0 to +2.0 or less. I experimented and it seems like that works in making regular lenses available. I don't know how much that affects the optics, but according to what I read online the Sphere value is the important one, Cylinder is more like fine tuning. It might be worth a shot for anybody with a limited budget.

I thought of that...but what if it comes back incorrect again? lol...

This is my third pair from them. The first pair was also off in the measurements but I didnt bother to get them to change it because it was only a tiny bit off...Second pair was good. This third pair is off again but this time so significantly that my head hurts as soon as i put them on.

All the exact same prescription? Your experience sounds really odd. I haven't seen many complaints here about Clearly, and usually the problem is corrected in the replacement pair. Is your prescription special in some way?

    • I had a slight increase lens but aren't we suppose to feel a little dizzy or headache at first? That's kinda how I felt when I first wear glasses, especially when I'm wearing them and walking at the same time.

This is only my second pair of glasses ever since I had my first pair 4 years ago.

I'm feeling strength difference of the lens increase and a little dizzy.

I thought this is normal until we get use to it, am I wrong?

All based on the exact same specs my optometrist provided me.
I currently have a couple pairs of going out glasses, and then a pair of at home only glasses which are the older (second pair) of clearly contacts glasses. There is absolutely no difference in feeling when I switch from any of my going out glasses, contacts and at home clearly contacts glasses.

However, putting this new pair of clearly contacts glasses on, i'm completely dizzy and my head hurts trying to look through them. All the above (contacts/glasses) are based off the same numbers given to me by the optometrist.

As I said I dropped by my optometrist (whos a friend of mine) and he checked the glasses in the machines they have and he said the numbers are not what they should be. I'm going to go back to him tomorrow and get the exact numbers he measures written down so I have something to go back to clearly contacts with.

It doesnt really bother me too much because the price was so cheap. Hell it was a way faster turnaround then any of the local glasses stores by far!

Just give them a call -- their customer service is pretty good. I recently did an exchange with them. They'll email you a prepaid shipping label, then you just have to drop it off at Canada Post. They'll ship out the replacement pair right away, but they charge your credit card for the replacement, then refund you once they receive the return.

As "dohanley" mentioned, give them a call.. They were quite friendly and usefull. I had to replace a pair for my father-in-law, and had no issues.. They appologized and said it was probably a lab error.. Sent me prepaid mailer and told me that if I didn't have the original box, just to wait till I got the new pair, and then put the old pair in the new box, and use the prepaid mailer to send it back.. And since at the time, they allowed you to "pay later" after you received your order, they didn't even charge again and refund anything... I was very impressed...

Replacement pair was exactly right...So obviously there was some mixup at the lab, which they took care of, at no cost to the customer.

Hey, I've gotten a free pair for both my in-laws, my mom, my wife, and my daughter... No complaints...

      Good luck...
