I wish Alberta would have a similar campaign. Until then, $10 LED bulbs for me...

Note you can usually find the coupons in participating stores. I noticed them yesterday and was going to post when I found this thread.

    • Went to HD to get 4 x 60w (equivalent) small base G-type CFL bulbs for my vanity light. HD rep says Philips doesn't make them anymore. Not just the G16 ones I need but apparently 60w equivalent altogether! I find that hard to believe. Points me to the regular G-type bulbs. I decide to try at Canadian Tire. Noma makes a 3 G16 bulb kit which sells there for $20. What a scam! Which evil genius thought that packs of three bulbs is convenient for consumers? All bulb resellers seem to be doing this now. Sorry "green" fans....I'm not going to spend $40 for 4 freaking bulbs minus a $1 coupon (underwhelming). I picked up a regular pack for $4. I'll be dead before I've replaced those bulbs 10 x such that the cost is the same as what I'd have paid for the CFLs. As far as the extra power consumption goes, for a vanity light, it ain't going to be noticeable or likely even measurable given how long that light will stay lit on average.....

When prices drop further, reliability is proven and consumer acceptance becomes the norm? I expect all three are the key.

Here is the response I got:

"Thank you for your interest in the Coupons program.

The OPA is beginning to introduce incentives for ENERGY STAR® qualified LEDs into the Consumer Program in 2013, specifically starting in the residential new construction sector. Based on market availability of ENERGY STAR qualified LEDs over the coming months, we will be considering these for integration into the entire Consumer Program at a later date. In the meantime please feel free to visit our website www.saveonenergy.ca for a full list of products currently offering COUPONS.
