    • Beat me to it, thanks OP :-)

I was beginning to worry that they've decided to dispose of domain discounting altogether.

It seems they're trying to move the $1-ish promos to the $2-ish price point.

    • For those who would rather not deal with GD (even though you can make them lose money on this promo by buying the domain and nothing else, then transfering away before the end of Feb 2013) you can pay about less than a dollar more and get the following deal at a slightly better perceived and much older registrar:

      http://forums.redflagdeals.com/domai.../#post14311830

The $2.95 deal at Network Solutions above also allows transfers, which is rare and something that GD hasn't allowed in their $1-ish $2-ish deals for a long time now.

    • Thanks OP. Looks like the 1 per order per customer is pretty solid, could only get a single domain at the price.

Either way, $2 Domain + Free DDNS is amazing for running home monitoring equipment!

Thanks for posting this. GoDaddy really is worth avoiding (if you're not a domain squatter — and I have a lot more respect for real squatters than those types). Keep making the Internet a better place!

Seems the deal with Network Solutions is only applicable to .com, .net and .org domain names. Do you have another code for .ca domain names?

If you go to gybo dot ca, you can get a .ca for free without buying anything else.

There are catches, but none is insurmountable unless you want to build a real website on that domain in the next couple of months.

So, if I want to register besteverURL.com and try to sell it for $1000 within the year, I should go with Network Solutions? I have a friend who is into domain arbitrage and makes thousands here and there on domains he registers for $1 or thereabouts. Just wondering....

In this day and age there are far better ways to make extra money IMO. I wouldn't recommend doing that as a purely speculative exercise.

Now if you can create a website that adds value and improves people's lives (ideally in a way that makes money) then a good domain can make the difference between success and failure.

And NS is more reliable than the average registrar out there IMO.

Chillax Ghandi - this is about as easy as it gets.
      • Spend $2 and register a catchy domain name
      • Put it on eBay for $999 or best offer
      • Accept the offer of $75 you get
      • Get a 37,000% return on your investment (approx. ahem...)

A gross oversimiplification, of course, but this guy I know has made several thousand per on a few domains he's grabbed.

As far as win-win, it seems like everybody is happy. The domain registrar makes a sale (whether I do or not), and if I do get someone else to buy it from me, we're both happy as well. Win-Win-Win

      No, it's still going.

You just need to check that you're complying with all of the official conditions below:

That actually makes it hotter, since you can buy the domain ONLY (just ignore all the upsell offers), then transfer it away after a couple of months.

That causes GoDaddy to lose a fiver (give or take) on the wholesale price they pay.

You just need a functioning brain and a calendar - or just good memory so you don't forget before renewal time is too close to transfer (as in April 2013).

It's not the hottest deal ever, in fact GD sometimes has $1-ish offers on very similar terms.

And if you need hosting anyway, you can often get a free domain from your hosting company (which of course is not always a good choice).
