I am...not enjoying the current weather in Toronto. It is super, super hot and also extremely humid. And very hot. As a distraction, here's a roundup of money news for you:
- Canada's new polymer currency is melting. Oops!
- Good work, team -- for the first time in recent history, the average Canadian is now richer than the average American.
- The average consumer finds a Buy One, Get One Free offer more compelling than a 50% off offer, even if the two deals ultimately offer the same discount. (If the items are priced the same, they would; if one item is less than the other, the discount would be less than 50%.)
- RIM has been ordered to pay $147.2 million to Mformation Technology for patent infringement. The suit was originally filed in 2008 -- the spectacularly bad timing on the ruling is just a coincidence.
